Automatic logging

Pay with Apple Pay or get a bank alert, and the purchase lands in Lavie by itself, filed under the name's category.

Add the Lavie shortcut, then choose what runs it in the Shortcuts app. Downloading it alone does not turn on automatic logging. With Lavie Plus (including its trial), AI reads every alert your automation passes to it. An internet connection is required.

1. Enable AI and add the shortcut

Update Lavie, then open Settings › Automatic logging and turn on Automatic logging with AI. Read and accept the permission to send every automatic alert to DeepSeek. If you used the earlier AI fallback, turn this on once after updating: that earlier permission does not cover all alerts. An active Lavie Plus subscription or trial is required.

Log in Lavie

The only shortcut you need. Every source below runs it.

Get the shortcut

Open it on the iPhone that has Lavie. The page shows what to tap at each step.

2. Choose what runs it

On iOS 27, open Log in Lavie in Shortcuts, tap Edit, then Automation to add a trigger. On older versions, open Automation in Shortcuts, tap + (or New Automation), choose a trigger, then select Log in Lavie. Where Run Immediately is offered, select it.

Apple Pay (iOS 17 and later)

The amount and the shop, the moment you tap your iPhone or Apple Watch to pay. Only payments made by tapping; online purchases arrive through your bank's notifications instead.

  1. Shortcuts › Automation › + › Wallet (called Transaction on iOS 17).
  2. Pick the cards you pay with. Choose Run Immediately, then Next.
  3. Under My Shortcuts, pick Log in Lavie.

Bank or wallet app notifications (iOS 27 and later)

Use new purchase, payment or fare alerts from the apps you choose.

  1. In Shortcuts, open Log in Lavie › Edit › Automation › Notification.
  2. Choose the app that sends the notification. For example, a Citi card alert grouped under Wallet comes from Wallet, not the Citi banking app. You can add a filter for the notification's title, subtitle or message; leave it empty to receive all notifications from the selected apps.
  3. Keep Lavie's Log a purchase from Shortcut Input action connected to the notification content. The properties offered by Shortcuts can vary: make sure the input contains the transaction text, including its amount, rather than only the app name or title. Avoid Ask Each Time for an automatic run.
  4. In the shortcut editor, open Info › Privacy and enable Allow Running When Locked. If Run Immediately is shown for the trigger, select it. Save your changes.

This starts with new notifications received after you enable the trigger. It does not read old notifications already in Notification Center. Adding more apps broadens which alerts can reach Lavie; it does not turn a balance or payment reminder into a purchase.

Apple's instructions: add an automation and allow it to run when locked. Some actions may also need permission to run automatically.

Bank text messages

The SMS alerts many banks send for every card charge.

  1. Shortcuts › Automation › + › Message.
  2. Tap Message Contains and type a phrase your bank's alerts always use, such as "transaction of", "消费" or "ご利用". Bank numbers usually can't be chosen as a sender, so the phrase is what picks the right messages. Choose Run Immediately, then Next.
  3. Under My Shortcuts, pick Log in Lavie.

Card alerts by email

Cards that email you after each charge, as many do in Japan. Works with the Mail app.

  1. Shortcuts › Automation › + › Email.
  2. Pick the sender your card alerts come from. Choose Run Immediately, then Next.
  3. Under My Shortcuts, pick Log in Lavie.

3. Check what arrived

After the next alert, open Lavie › Settings › Automatic logging › Recent runs. Check the time and result against that alert. If there is no new run, the shortcut may not have reached Lavie, or it may have failed before a run could be recorded. This does not tell us whether the trigger is enabled. No text received means the call arrived without its notification text. A run with text can show whether reading or saving failed.

To check lock-screen behavior, use a new alert received while the phone is locked, then compare its time with Recent runs after unlocking. You can export a diagnostic log from that page; it contains run status and input length, never the notification text or transaction amounts.

If Lavie may send you notifications, each automatic entry sends a note: tap it to fix the amount or name, or press and hold it and tap Undo.

AI decides whether each alert describes one completed expense or receipt. Promotions, payment reminders, credit card repayments and uncertain results should be skipped. If a result is wrong, undo it and send us the wording with private details removed. Network or subscription failures do not fall back to local parsing.

One tap, no automation

Control Center and Lock Screen

Open Control Center, press and hold an empty spot, tap Add a Control, search for Lavie and add Log spending. On the Lock Screen, press and hold, tap Customize, then add the same control or the Lavie widget. Each opens Lavie's keypad.

Action button

Settings › Action Button › Controls › search for Lavie › Log spending. Press the button and Lavie's keypad opens: type the amount, done.

Privacy

When you enable Automatic logging with AI, each alert or Wallet purchase your automations send goes to DeepSeek with your base currency, date and category names. Your ledger is not sent. You can switch this off at any time. Manual entry, the Control Center + button and the Action button stay free. See the privacy policy.
